What's more important when it comes to an Internet connection -- quality
and reliability, or speed? This is a question I'm pondering as I sip a
latte at Starbucks. I have come to the conclusion that while speed is
sexy and sells, quality and reliability are more important. Like
countless others, I spend an hour or two every day working in Starbucks
-- just me, my latte and my laptop.

Top Talent Jumps on Tidal Wave
It has about 5 million songs fewer than Spotify's streaming library, but
the big draw to Tidal is audio quality. Its premium tier streams FLAC
audio at up to 1411 kbps, which requires lots of bandwidth. The service
now counts 25 million-plus music tracks in its library and more than
75,000 music videos. It's available via dedicated apps for Android and
iOS, as well a Web player for Macs and PCs.

WiFi Pays Retailers in Spades
EarthLink and IHL on Tuesday released a joint study that shines a light
on the specific ways different types of localized WiFi networks are
helping businesses, and how enterprises are adapting to the realities of
a more mobile and data-centric world. Companies are changing their
point-of-sale systems to try to stay competitive, the study indicates.
