EFF Launches Write-to-Congress Tool
Email has made communicating with elected officials easy, but a new tool
from the Electronic Frontier Foundation is going to make it easier yet.
Democracy.io allows you to send an electronic missive to your U.S.
representative and senators with a minimum of clicks. Typically, you'd
have to go to your legislators' websites separately to make your views
known.

Comcast Needs to Do More Than Stream
Comcast -- and in fact, the entire cable television industry -- is going
through a time of incredible change. Cable companies used to grow year
after year because there was no competition. However, today they are
losing market share, so to help plug the hole, Comcast just introduced
Stream, a new subscription streaming service. It offers Xfinity
customers more choices for content consumption.

Feds Deliver Darkode's Doomsday
United States law enforcement agencies and their counterparts in 19
countries on Wednesday announced they had dismantled the Darkode
hackers' forum. Charges, arrests and searches were launched against 70
Darkode members and associates around the world, and 12 people
associated with the forum were indicted in the U.S. The agencies also
served several search warrants in the U.S.

Meaningful Work and CRM
Having meaningful work is one of the biggest challenges for many people
at the bottom of the employment ladder. In Outliers: The Story of
Success , Malcolm Gladwell documented the multigenerational effect. The
children of people who had meaningful work turned out to be more
successful and advanced further in their careers than children of people
stuck in less-rewarding occupations.

Google May Goose Mobile Device Impulse Buys
Google on Wednesday announced that it is giving tablet and smartphone
users more purchase options in an effort to respond to shoppers' "micro
moments." Mobile devices influenced about 28 percent of in-store sales
in the U.S. last year, noted Jonathan Alferness, vice president of
product management for Google Shopping. However, "it's way too hard to
buy things on your phone," he added.

DoD Sets Ambitious Cloud Goals
The U.S. Defense Department, often cited as a bit sluggish in taking
advantage of the benefits of cloud computing, appears now to be emerging
as a government leader in adopting the technology. In the short run, DoD
has far outpaced other federal agencies in setting up cloud contracts.
During fiscal 2015 Q1, the value of all federal contracts for cloud
projects amounted to $668 million.

Apple Scarfs Up Nearly All the Smartphone Profits
While Android smartphones have captured nearly 80 percent of the
worldwide market, Apple has an overwhelming lead where it counts most:
profits. Ninety-two percent of worldwide profits from smartphones go to
Apple, according to Cannacord Genuity. Samsung is a distant second with
15 percent. Since Apple started peddling smartphones eight years ago,
its profit picture has brightened continuously.

Waiting for the Internet of Things
Despite all the attention being given to the extraordinary opportunities
promised by the Internet of Things, many software and technology vendors
are still waiting for demand to match the predictions. Security concerns
are the most common inhibitor to IoT initiatives, industry surveys
suggest, but a number of other factors likely are getting in the way of
IoT deployments as well.
