Facebook Invites 1.5B Close Friends to Its Birthday Bash
Facebook celebrated its 12th birthday on Thursday by congratulating its
users on how far they've carried the social network. The company earlier
this week held a more intimate celebration of its anniversary at its
main campus in Menlo Park, California. That event included 18 members of
the Facebook community, who traveled from places as disparate as Saudi
Arabia and Louisiana.

Birth of the Modern
Nearly every generation sees the birth of what, for it, will define
modern life going forward. As uncertain as the twenty-teens have been,
in retrospect economists may point to this decade as being as important
as the tipping points of the 1870s and 1920s. If so, there may be no
better event to symbolize the beginning of the era than the Salesforce
fiscal-year kick-off this week.

Uber Makeover Draws Derision
Uber on Tuesday unveiled a new logo, the culmination of a two-year
effort to develop a rebranding strategy. The new logo will be depicted
in the Uber app in colors localized to each of the 65 countries where
the company has a presence. For example, it's pink in Mexico, red in
India, gold in China and oak in Ireland. The colors and patterns are
meant to bring out Uber's human side.
