Microsoft Spiffs Up Skype Mobile Apps
Microsoft last week rolled out versions of Skype 6.0 for iOS and
Android. The company redesigned the applications to be more natural and
intuitive, and it added new features. Skype 6.0 for Android now has a
floating action button, which makes it easy to start a new conversation.
The new iOS version incorporates swipe gestures and makes it easier to
share photos, Web links, emoticons and locations.

Apple TV Should Take a Hint From Nvidia's Shield
Apple will be launching some interesting products on Wednesday. The
timing is nearly right for its Intel Skylake laptops and PCs. The iPhone
6S is also due, and typically the smart Apple customers wait for the S,
because S models have fixes to the earlier model's problems that most
annoyed users. At the very least, the iPhone 6S is expected to avoid its
predecessors' bending issues.

Linux Foundation Security Checklist: Have It Your Way
The Linux Foundation's recently published security checklist may draw
more attention to best practices for protecting Linux workstations, even
if IT pros do not embrace all of its recommendations. Konstantin
Ryabitsev, the foundation's director of collaborative IT services,
developed the list for the use of LF remote sysadmins, to harden their
laptops against attacks.
