That and more in The Daily Crunch for September 5, 2017. 1. Samsung's Galaxy Note 8, reviewed Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 is here, and Brian has an in-depth review. The device is still a phablet, but it's a much more manageable one that it has been in the past. It's a solid recovery from the Note 7 fiasco, basically, with good updates that improve the device, without any drastic changes for the long-running big screen Note line. 
2. Burning the candle at both ends Burning Man means San Francisco is emptied of all tech bros, including, it turns out, the Juicero founder, whose company collapsed while he was on The Playa. Bad form! This may be the most Silicon Valley thing of all time. Perfect fodder for Josh's unique commentary skills. 3. Beats launches Studio 3 with W1 Apple's Beats brand has a new version of its over-ear Studio headphones, this time with the W1 chip on board, which makes pairing with any iOS or macOS device quick and painless. The new cans also have adaptive noise cancelling, and should be an upgrade for an already capable pair of headphones. 4. Electric sky taxi co. raises $90 million Lilium has already demonstrated that its electric VTOL taxi can work, at least in prototype form. Now, it's raised $90 million in Series B funding, to help turn prototype into actual shipping product. 5. Xiaomi's Mi A1 runs Android One Xiaomi is hoping its premium bezel-free smartphone will be an iPhone spoiler, but now its Mi A1 hopes to cover the other end of the spectrum at $230 outright with Android One, Google's budget-focused version of stock Android. 6. The Essential Phone's love labor shines through Essential wants its Phone to garner the kind of love and affection that Apple alone seems to be able to secure from its fans, at least in North America. I found that it mostly managed to accomplish that goal with its first ever piece of hardware. 7. This drone is made out of tortilla It sounds goofy but edible drones actually could have practical uses. Sure they could. Stop laughing. |
