Apple reportedly confirms keyboard reliability fix in internal document An internal Apple document obtained by MacGénération and MacRumors confirms that the third generation butterfly keyboard tries to fix reliability issues by including a membrane underneath. When Apple announced the new MacBook Pro lineup, it said the keyboard had been improved for quieter typing — and it is quieter. But in the document, Apple explains things a little differently: "The keyboard has a membrane under the keycaps to prevent debris from entering the butterfly mechanism."
