Today's Story Highlights

When the News Went Live... Online
The shift of live content from traditional broadcast television to
online sources has significantly changed the video industry -- and
especially, the news media industry. News typically derives its value
and attracts viewers with live updates and real-time engagement. The
rise of live online alternatives extends those capabilities to
nontraditional voices in the digital realm.

When Is the Time to Hire a Cyber Specialist?
Cybersecurity has been becoming a larger and larger concern for
organizations. Nowadays, most organizations -- regardless of size,
industry, location, or profit vs. nonprofit status -- find themselves
directly or indirectly impacted by cybersecurity. Even though the topic
itself is increasing in importance, many smaller organizations don't
have specialized security expertise on staff.

The 4 Best Ways to Get Customers to Pay Attention
I don't have to tell you how difficult it is to find and attract
customers online. With millions and millions of businesses all vying for
attention, the Internet has quickly turned into a very crowded place.
But, believe it or not, there's opportunity in all that clutter, and if
you approach your marketing and visibility right, you can easily rise to
the top.

Getting Clarity on the Private vs. Public Cloud Decision
News flash: Private cloud economics can offer more cost efficiency than
public cloud pricing structures. Private, or on-premises, cloud
solutions can be more cost-effective than public cloud options,
according to a report by 451 Research and Canonical. That conclusion
counters the notion that public cloud platforms traditionally are more
cost-efficient than private infrastructures.

Black Friday Deal Sprawl Grows
Although retailers are slating some outstanding deals for Black Friday,
the shine of the once-feverish shopping day has diminished, as product
discounts have started to appear earlier and earlier in the holiday
season. Discounts formerly found exclusively on Black Friday -- and on
its online equivalent, Cyber Monday -- gradually have migrated to
earlier in the fall.

The Fine Art of Keeping B2B Buyers Engaged
The gap between B2B buyers and sellers has been growing. More than 70
percent of B2B buyers preferred to wait to engage a seller until the
latter demonstrated a clear understanding of its needs, a CSO Insights
survey found. Nearly 58 percent of buyers saw little difference among
sellers, and more than 10 percent saw no difference at all among
sellers.

HBO Fires Back at Dish in Blackout Tussle
HBO chief Richard Plepler has issued a response to Dish CEO Charlie
Ergen's claim that the ongoing impasse between the companies was the
result of a purely anticompetitive play on AT&T's part. It was Dish that
dropped HBO and Cinemax signals at midnight on Oct. 31, blacking out
programming for subscribers, Plepler said. That was the first time in
HBO's nearly 50-year history that any pay-TV service dropped the premium
channel from its lineup.

6 Ways Retailers Can Hold Their Own in the Microbrand Revolution
The holiday shopping season is kicking off! It is only a matter of time
before carols and bright lights greet us in malls and shopping centers.
One popular item on many of this year's wish lists is the Velvet Lip
Kit. To fulfill this particular wish, givers can skip the crowds and the
checkout lines. They can skip the retail stores all together, at least
for this one item, by ordering it through Kylie Jenner's direct-to-
consumer online channel.

Let Your Customers Drive the Change You Want
Before I was a parent, I was a youth leader. As individuals, teens had
unique personalities, skills and stories, but one thing that was
universal was the effect that parental communication had on them.
Whether it was a criticism, a suggestion, or merely a bit of helpful
information, the teens tended to look down on it, or even become hostile
toward the messenger.

Can Sprint Get Out of Its Own Way?
There has been so much water under the wireless bridge. Sprint has tried
to keep up with the big players, but even though it has a good quality
mobile product and plenty of spectrum, it seems it just can't catch a
break, win market share, and become more relevant. Based on its latest
earnings report, Sprint is in better shape today than it has been in
recent years, but it is still struggling.
