| IBM is buying Red Hat, Twitter is not removing its Like button (yet) and Red is selling a big, expensive phone. Here's your Daily Crunch for October 29, 2018. 1. IBM to buy Red Hat for $34B in cash and debt, taking a bigger leap into hybrid cloud The deal is all about IBM taking a bigger bet on the cloud, and very specifically cloud services that blend on-premises and cloud-based architectures — something that the two companies have already been working on together since May. IBM said the acquisition has already been approved by the IBM and Red Hat boards, but is still subject to Red Hat shareholder and regulatory approvals. If all goes as planned, it's expected to close in the latter half of 2019.

No, Twitter is not removing its Like button 'soon', but it is considering it In response to a story reporting that it would "soon" remove the Like button, the company said it's been "considering" a move like this — but there's no timeline, and it's not happening in the near future. 3.
